Ester Naomi Perquin

Ester Naomi Perquin is a Dutch poet and author.

She lives in Rotterdam.

She has performed on several foreign stages and her poems have been translated and published in English, French, German, Slovenian, and Spanish. In 2010 her poem 'State secret' was translated in all languages of the European Union.

She worked in a prison service to help fund her studies of creative writing in Amsterdam. Her début "Napkins at half mast" (2007) was awarded the Liegen konijn Prize, and followed by a second collection, "On behalf of the other" (2009), whoch was awarded the J.C Bloem Prize. Along with having a famous father, poet Takaaki Yoshimoto, Banana's sister, Haruno Yoiko, is a well-known cartoonist in Japan. Growing up in a liberal family, she learned the value of independence from a young age.

She graduated from Nihon University's Art College, majoring in Literature. During that time, she took the pseudonym "Banana" after her love of banana flowers, a name she recognizes as both "cute" and "purposefully androgynous."

Connie Palmen (Aldegonda Petronella Huberta Maria Palmen) is a Dutch author. She was born on November 25, 1955 in Sint Odiliënberg.

Palmen debuted with the novel De wetten (1990), published in the USA as The Laws (1993), translated by Richard Huijing. The Laws was shortlisted for the 1996 International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award.
Her second novel was De vriendschap (1995), published in the USA as The Friendship (2000), translated by Ina Rilke.

Annelies Verbeke is a Flemish writer from Belgium. She lives in Ghent. Verbeke studied German language and Scenario writing. In 2003 she debuted at Uitgeverij De Geus with her novel Slaap! with which she won the Vlaamse debuutprijs, the Gouden Ezelsoor and the Vrouw en Kultuur Debuutprijs.
