Drs ing. Erica Verdegaal is econoom en publicist. Ze studeerde onder meer economie en twee jaar filosofie in Amsterdam. Na diverse banen in het bedrijfsleven koos ze in 1995 voor de journalistiek. Sindsdien schrijft ze over alles wat met geld van doen heeft voor onder meer NRC Handelsblad, trosradar.nl, maandblad ZIN en de Financiele Consument. Ze publiceerde twaalf boeken.

Naast haar boeken en columns werkt Verdegaal mee aan radio- en televisieprogramma’s zoals BNR Nieuwsradio, TROS Radar, Radio 1 en 2, Pauw & Witteman en meer. Met het televisieprogramma NTR Academie maakte ze in 2014 een uitzending met tips over geld en geluk: Geld maakt wel gelukkig....
