Emma Reynolds is an illustrator and author based in Manchester, UK.

Her debut author-illustrator picture book Amara and the Bats is out now with Atheneum - Simon & Schuster. When Amara moves to a new town, she discovers that her beloved bats no longer live nearby because they've lost so much of their habitat. Inspired to take action, Amara gathers her new friends to help save the bats!

Passionate about storytelling and creating unique characters, Emma is also the illustrator of Rescuing Mrs. Birdley written by Aaron Reynolds, published by Simon & Schuster.

Emma also started the #KidLit4Climate illustrated campaign, bringing together thousands of children's illustrators and authors from over 50 countries in solidarity with the youth climate st

Julia Donaldson

Growing up
I grew up in a tall Victorian London house with my parents, grandmother, aunt, uncle, younger sister Mary and cat Geoffrey (who was really a prince in disguise. Mary and I would argue about which of us would marry him).

Mary and I were always creating imaginary characters and mimicking real ones, and I used to write shows and choreograph ballets for us. A wind-up gramophone wafted out Chopin waltzes.

I studied Drama and French at Bristol University, where I met Malcolm, a guitar-playing medic to whom I’m now married.

Busking and books
Before Malcolm and I had our three sons we used to go busking together and I would write special songs for each country; the best one was in Italian about pasta.

Rafael Yockteng

Rafael Yockteng was born in 1976 in Lima, Peru. In 1980 he moved with his family to Colombia, where he still lives today. His favorite subjects at school were mathematics and physics, so he decided to study mechanical engineering. After three semesters he began to draw and write, changed his major, and studied graphic design at the Jorge Tadeo Lozano University in Bogotá. In 2000 he won the Utopía competition of the Organización Internacional para el Libro Juvenil (IBBY) for Latin American illustrators of children’s books. Since then he has mainly illustrated children’s books for publishers in Colombia, Canada, and Mexico.

Kieran Larwood is the author of Freaks, and was the winner of the Times/Chicken House Children’s Fiction Competition 2011.
Kieran is one of only two male Reception class teachers on the Isle of Wight.
His days mainly consist of singing nursery rhymes, tying shoelaces, trying to locate who has had an ‘accident’ by sense of smell alone, and vast, endless mountains of paperwork.
