Elena Quiroga y Abarca, penúltima de diecisiete hijos de Don José Quiroga y Velarde, conde de San Martiño de Quiroga, y de Isabel de Abarca y Fornés. Su primera publicación data del año 1949, La soledad sonora, en la que cuenta la historia de una mujer desde su adolescencia hasta su madurez. En 1950, un año después de su primera publicación se casó con Dálmiro de Válgoma, futuro secretario perpetuo de la Academia de la Historia, con la novela Viento del Norte (1950) obtuvo el Premio Nadal. He has written several novels, including the New York Times bestseller Mystic River, which was later made into an Academy Award winning film, also called Mystic River, directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Sean Penn, Tim Robbins, and Kevin Bacon (Lehane can be briefly seen waving from a car in the parade scene at the end of the film). May Sarton

May Sarton was born on May 3, 1912, in Wondelgem, Belgium, and grew up in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Her first volume of poetry, Encounters in April, was published in 1937 and her first novel, The Single Hound, in 1938. An accomplished memoirist, Sarton boldly came out as a lesbian in her 1965 book Mrs. Stevens Hears the Mermaids Singing. Her later memoir, Journal of a Solitude, was an account of her experiences as a female artist. Sarton died in York, Maine, on July 16, 1995.

Natalia Ginzburg

Natalia Ginzburg (née Levi) was an Italian author whose work explored family relationships, politics during and after the Fascist years and World War II, and philosophy. She wrote novels, short stories and essays, for which she received the Strega Prize and Bagutta Prize. Most of her works were also translated into English and published in the United Kingdom and United States. An activist, for a time in the 1930s she belonged to the Italian Communist Party. In 1983 she was elected to Parliament from Rome as an Independent.

Agustín Gómez Arcos

Agustín Gómez Arcos (Agustin Gomez-Arcos in France) was a Spanish writer, anarchist and dramatist born in Almería, Andalusia. He studied law but quit university for theater. However, some of his work was banned in Franco's Spain. Because of censorship Gómez Arcos emigrated to London in 1966, then to Paris in 1968, where he settled and wrote primarily in French, often with themes condemning the fascist Spanish state. He died in Paris of cancer.

Gómez Arcos won the Hermès Prize for his 1975 novel The Carnivorous Lamb, the Livre Inter prize, the Roland Dorgelès Prize and the Thyde Monnier Prize for his 1977 novel Ana No, and he was twice a finalist for the Prix Goncourt.

Rosa Chacel

Rosa Chacel Arimón fue una escritora española de la Generación del 27. Nacida en una familia de carácter liberal, el ambiente en el que se crió le permitió cultivar una personalidad independiente así como obtener una amplia cultura literaria. En 1908 su familia se traslada a Madrid, al barrio de las Maravillas, escenario de su posterior obra de ficción.

Su ingreso en la Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes de San Fernando le permitió tomar contacto con los círculos intelectuales de la época. DAVID UCLÉS (Úbeda, 1990), licenciado y máster en Traducción e Interpretación por francés, alemán e inglés, es, además, escritor, músico y dibujante.
