I'm proud of my 42-year career in journalism and public affairs. I grew up in Pasco in the eastern part of Washington State. After graduating from Washington State University with a B.A. in Journalism, I joined The Tacoma, WA, News Tribune and spent 18 years there as a reporter and political writer and eventually became an editor. The latter 16 years of my career was as policy advisor, speechwriter and strategist for the elected Washington State Auditor. Using an M.A. obtained from the University of Washington, I seized the opportunity to serve as a visiting professor at the University of North Florida.
