Christel Stalpaert is sinds 2003 docent Theaterwetenschappen (Performing and Media Arts) aan de Universiteit Gent en mededirecteur van de onderzoeksgroep S:PAM (Studies in Performing Arts and Media). Ze studeerde Duitse filologie en Theaterwetenschappen aan de Universiteit Gent en publiceerde talrijke artikelen over theater en performance in boeken en tijdschriften (Documenta, Ballet-Tanz, Arcadia, Achttiende-eeuws Leven, e.a.).
