Carolyn Woods
Carolyn Woods was making a new life for herself in the Cotswolds when she had the misfortune to meet one of Britain’s most notorious conmen. The man she fell in love with, and made plans to marry, she knew as Mark Conway. But in fact he was convicted fraudster Mark Acklom, and over the course of their eighteen-month relationship he would take from her £850,000 of her savings; her dignity and sense of self; and nearly her sanity.
Carolyn studied Comparative Literature and French at the University of East Anglia. She lives in the country with a beautiful ginger cat and finds that life in the slow lane has plenty to recommend it.

Toni Maguire
“Don’t tell Mummy”, my memoir of my own childhood abuse, became a UK best seller in 2007. Writing about my experiences was hard emotionally, but in retrospect it has helped me deal with my past and realize that there is no shame in being the victim. It is never the child’s fault, whatever the abuser makes them believe at the time. How can it be? I then wrote a sequel, “When Daddy Comes Home”, which deals with the mental trauma of having a father jailed for incest, return to a home where my mother welcomed him back as if nothing had happened and turned her back on me.

I write books ... hopefully books that you not only enjoy, but ones that help you understand yourself, your circumstances or a social cause a little bit better. After all, isn't art at its most powerful when it not only entertains us, but when it also educates, elevates and inspires?
