Carolin Emcke

Carolin Emcke, geboren am 18. August 1967 in Mülheim an der Ruhr, lebt als freie Publizistin in Berlin. Sie studierte ab 1987 Philosophie, Politik und Geschichte in London, Frankfurt am Main und an der Harvard University. Ihre Doktorarbeit „Kollektive Identitäten. Sozialphilosophische Grundlagen“ wurde 2000 im Campus Verlag veröffentlicht.

Von 1998 bis 2006 arbeitete Carolin Emcke als festangestellte Redakteurin beim Nachrichtenmagazin DER SPIEGEL. Ab 1999 bereiste sie als Auslandsredakteurin zahlreiche Krisenregionen und berichtete unter anderem aus dem Kosovo, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Irak und dem Gaza-Streifen.
