Ann Parker
Ann Parker was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Her younger years were spent in Carrizozo, New Mexico, trying to keep up with her two older siblings, Carrie and Wayland. They told her she could only tag along “if she could keep up.” Her fear of being left out created a strong determination in her formative years. That drive equipped her to keep pace with her siblings, who were six and seven years her senior. She also spent time bossing around her younger brother, Patrick. Her mother remembers Ann, just a kindergartener, instructing two-year-old Patrick to recite the pledge of allegiance. Patrick definitely had a hand in developing Ann’s love for teaching.

My newest book tells the little-known story of the courageous people who chose a life in one of the most inhospitable North American environments in their determination to escape slavery. Written as historical fiction, the true story of over 2,000 freedom seekers who established homes and communities deep in The Great Dismal Swamp is presented. While each day was a struggle to survive in the swamp, the formerly enslaved established vibrant communities and developed an economy that supported multi-generational families. As one swamp resident said, "The worst day in this terrible swamp is much better than the best day I ever experienced as a slave."

Images of Jimi Hendrix playing the U.S. National Anthem at Woodstock inspired pounding on a Gibson in a garage band influenced by local groups like the MC5 and Iggy and Stooges whose pioneering punk music he figured existed everywhere—though it was actually coming out of Detroit, Michigan forty miles to the north.

I started writing in 2017 and have this series planned out (kind of). I think my imagination gets a little carried away, as I've been told to remove a few things.
I have this one reviewer, out of a dozen, that is very eager to explain his ideas. I told him I'll need to credit him in a future book with some basic character developments. His ideas are pretty good. His name is Enrico and he's an NYPD first grade detective. Just to give you perspective, NYPD has around 40,000 officers and employees and there are only 200 first grade detectives.
So, stay tuned. It's going to get very hot in here!

My journey as an author began unexpectedly, despite a lifetime of being an avid reader. In my younger days, I devoured works by Roger Zelazny, Anne McCaffrey, Stephen R. Donaldson, and J.R.R. Tolkien, among many others, though I never imagined I'd create worlds of my own.

My life experiences have profoundly shaped my writing. Serving in the U.S. Armed Forces in the 1980s, including a formative tour in Korea, exposed me to different cultures and philosophies that would later influence my storytelling. The concept of duality—represented in the yin-yang symbol—became a central theme in my life and my ideology, as well as a fascination with heraldry and family heritage.
At age 58, I created and registered my own personal coat of arms with the New -

In those five decades he wrote hundreds of poems, songs, stories, essays, articles, plays, and scripts. The published portion of that catalog earned him the equivalent of a long weekend’s lodging at a Comfort Inn somewhere along Interstate 5 in California’s Central Valley.
He made his living during that time as a journalist, teacher, and technical writer. This portion of his output kept body and soul together, making him a decent prospect to marry, raise a son, see a bit of the world, and have enough left over to buy that comfy recliner his teenaged self never thought he -
