Azza Filali

Azza Filali est née en 1952. Elle est professeur de Gastro-entérologie à l'hôpital La Rabta à Tunis. Elle a par ailleurs obtenu un master en philosophie à l'université Paris-I en 2009.

Son premier livre Le Voyageur immobile (Alif – Les éditions de la Méditerranée, 1991) était un essai sur la pratique médicale. Ont suivi un second essai Le Jardin écarlate en 1996, puis Monsieur L (roman, Cérès, 1999), Les Vallées de lumière (roman, Cérès, 2001), Propos changeants sur l'amour (nouvelles, Cérès, 2003), Chronique d’un décalage (roman, Mim éditions, 2005).

Jean Giono

Jean Giono, the only son of a cobbler and a laundress, was one of France’s greatest writers. His prodigious literary output included stories, essays, poetry, plays, film scripts, translations and over thirty novels, many of which have been translated into English.

Giono was a pacifist, and was twice imprisoned in France at the outset and conclusion of World War II.

He remained tied to Provence and Manosque, the little city where he was born in 1895 and, in 1970, died.
