Kamala Suraiyya (born Kamala; 31 March 1934 – 31 May 2009), also known by her one-time pen name Madhavikutty and Kamala Das, was an Indian English poet and littérateur and at the same time a leading Malayalam author from Kerala, India. Her popularity in Kerala is based chiefly on her short stories and autobiography, while her oeuvre in English, written under the name Kamala Das, is noted for the poems and explicit autobiography.
Her open and honest treatment of female sexuality, free from any sense of guilt, infused her writing with power, but also marked her as an iconoclast in her generation. On 31 May 2009, aged 75, she died at a hospital in Pune. Das has earned considerable respect in recent years.

P. C. Kuttikrishnan, popularly known by his penname Uroob (Malayalam: ഉറൂബ്; 1915 – 1979) was a famous Malayalam writer from Kerala state, South India. He along with writers like Basheer, Thakazhi, Kesavadev, and Pottekkatt formed the progressive writers in Malayalam during the twentieth century. Arkady Gaydar
Arkadi Petrovich Golikov, better known as Arkadiy Gaidar (Аркадий Гайдар), was a Soviet writer, whose stories were very popular among Soviet children. His story "Timur and his squad" (1940) made Gaidar famous. The character Timur was named after and partially based on Gaidar's son. Ten year old Dave Tabler decided he was going to read the ‘R’ volume from the family’s World Book Encyclopedia set over summer vacation. He never made it from beginning to end. He did, however, become interested in Norman Rockwell, rare-earth elements, and Run for the Roses.

Tabler’s father encouraged him to try his hand at taking pictures with the family camera. With visions of Rockwell dancing in his head, Tabler press-ganged his younger brother into wearing a straw hat and sitting next to a stream barefoot with a homemade fishing pole in his hand. The resulting image was terrible.
Dave Tabler went on to earn degrees in art history and photojournalism despite being told he needed a ‘Plan B.'

Malickathazhathu Pulluvazhy Narayana Pillai was born in the village of Pulluvazhy near Perumbavoor in Ernakulam district, Kerala. His early schooling was in the local school in Pulluvazhy and completed his Pre-University course at Nirmala College, Muvattupuzha. He then moved to Banaras Hindu University and after obtaining his B.Sc degree in Agricultural Science from there, he began his professional career as a telephone operator in the East German Consulate at Delhi.
